We’re a bit late on this one I’m afraid. Tonight 13th July at 7.30pm see’s year 11 pupils Shannan Jay and Jon Phipps take the leading roles as one of the West-End’s infamous high school sweethearts supported by a strong and gifted cast and chorus. Pupils are very excited to be given the opportunity to perform at the Kings Theatre for the first time and will even have the chance to tour the theatre and meet the production team learning what it is truly like to be a professional actor and dancer. All profits from the event will raise funds for help for heroes and to support the families and soldiers in the British army.

The director and head of performing arts Lynda O’Neill is delighted that the student’s are part of a musical that is dynamic, relevant and part of their culture performed in such an established and beautifully restored venue. I am so proud of working with such a multi-talented and dedicated cast of all round performers, and know that this will be shared by all who come to support them, to be entertained and sing along to the well know musical numbers on the night!

Pupils at the newly established Ark School Charter Academy have been busy working incredibly hard in months of rehearsals for their annual school production at the Kings Theatre, Southsea. Students have been practicing their lines, cues and lyrics devotedly with the support of their teachers in order to produce an exciting evening’s performance for family, friends and the general public. Pupils have been participating in acting, singing and dancing workshops whilst attending rehearsals to ensure they are ready to step up to the challenge of performing a much loved musical showcasing an array of versatility and talent. The rehearsals have been taking place during Charter Academy’s extended day programme where pupils undertake as well as Maths and English sessions, a variety of optional activities including a wide range of skill based workshops from professional specialists from a variety of disciplines.
