Joseph Loughbrough – Deciphering the Ash of Effigies

Friend of Strong Island Joseph Loughbrough is currently displaying his work in an exhibition named ‘Deciphering the Ash of Effigies’ at the Anno Dommini Gallery, California.

Drawing inspiration from various themes concerned with Camus/Kierkegaard’s notion of ‘Absurdity.” Each drawing becomes story pursuing a standing point within the concept.

The main installation piece was completed after 4 days of solid charcoal grafting. Hanging from almost the entire length of the gallery floor to ceiling the drapes seemed to breath with the movements of the first visitors to the vernissage.

For our Californian based readers you can still see the show as it runs until 15th of April. Those of you we can’t get over to the east coast of the State you can view the work online HERE.

You can also follow him on his own website, Tumblr, Flickr, Twitter and Facebook.
