Deluxe Flamingos ‘Where Is My Ray?’

Deluxe Flamingos ‘Where Is My Ray?’

Local band the Deluxe Flamingos were initially formed in 2010 by PJ Davy and Mike James. Initially the pair set out to create Rap and Hip Hop inspired sounds. As they experimented, their wide range of musical influences started to creep in, leaving what I could only describe as an alternative electro sound.

In 2012 the boys enlisted the vocal talents of Canadian singer/song writer, Aviv. The jigsaw was completed last year with Matt Horn joined them on the drums. Now the line up has been completed they are preparing for the festival season later in the year. I for one can’t wait and will be first in the queue for tickets!

Deluxe Flamingos credit a whole range of influences including Mogwai, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, M83, Prince, Sonic Youth and Pixies.

The current single Where Is My Ray wouldn’t be out of place in the recent Ryan Gosling movie Drive. The video was shot in Tokyo, by LA based director, James Okubo. I don’t know if it is just me but the video reminds me of Lost In Translation, and makes me want to sit down and watch it again.lamingos “Where Is My Ray?” from James Okubo on Vimeo.
