The St Valentines Day Massacre is now cemented as up there with the best fundraising events in Portsmouth, bringing together local bands and musicians in a fun, musical(ish) car crash of a night where bands collaborate and old love songs get ruined all for a good cause.
This second event happened on Wednesday night at the Edge of the Wedge and was a fun evening filled with frilly shirts, saxaphones, violins and a replica titanic…plus some big sing alongs as well as an impromptu karaoke performance from the talented sound lady. The Battery Hens intimate ‘Ghost’ moment looked beautiful too and thankfully Joe Watson was on hand with his camera to make sure that image is now seared in to your brain for the rest of St. Valentines Day…you know you’ll not be able to top that romantic moment, just don’t even bother trying.
With £340 raised for Youth Music this event shows what creative fun can happen when the talent in this city work together for a good cause. Props from us to everyone that gets involved organising the event and all the local bands that not only play for free, but rehearse the songs for literally minutes before the show…ha!
