Saturday 13th June 2015 will see Portsmouth’s first Knitting in the Park event, encouraging all Portsmouth knitters to bring their needles and yarn and knit as part of World Wide Knit in Public Day.
2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the crafty event boasting of knitters from all around the world, uniting together over their hobby and passion. World Wide Knit in Public Day was started as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each others company, rather than knitting somewhere solitary.
Knitting in the Park founder Elizabeth from Cosham runs a weekly knitting group in Portsmouth Central Library and is the author of The Blanket Book – a book about the therapeutic benefits of knitting.
Elizabeth decided to host Knitting in the Park to share her passion of knitting with the community and to bring fellow knitters together.
There are so many crafters, knitters and crocheters in Portsmouth and with knitting appealing to a new generation, this could not be a better event to bring people together.
