Pedal Portsmouth

On Sunday the 27th September, for the first time ever, Southsea seafront will be closed to all vehicles so local residents and families can take advantage of a unique opportunity, and ride together on traffic free streets.

Cyclist of all ages and abilities are invited to Southsea seafront for Portsmouth City Council’s first Pedal Portsmouth cycling event. Try cycling around four miles of completely traffic free roads any time between 11am – 3pm. This is a great opportunity for children, beginners and rusty cyclists to get used to riding on roads, without the worry of vehicles.

There will also be free family activities on Castle Field and all seafront attractions will be open as usual – so please come down for the day. All children who take part will be able to collect a Pedal Portsmouth certificate from the British Cycling gazebo on Castle Field.There is no need to book for this event – just turn up and ride any time between 11am – 3pm.

Residents in the north of the city can register to join British Cycling Ride Social rides to the event. These rides meet at King George V Playing Field and Farlington Marshes car park at 9.45am and are suitable for all abilities.

Places are limited and you will need to register for these rides in advance here. There is no need to register children for these rides. All Ride Social participants can collect a free water bottle from the British Cycling gazebo.
