Pearl Izumi Tour Series Arrives in Portsmouth Today

THE FINAL ROUND OF THE TOUR SEES WINNERS CROWNED

Cycle racing hits Portsmouth City Centre today with the final round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series. The Pearl Izumi Tour Series is unique in world cycling, focusing on a team concept that sees Britain’s professional cycling teams competing to be the fastest in a one-hour circuit race. The day sees the fast sprint races on the city streets around the Guildhall & Civic Offices area and there will be plenty happening throughout the day from 13:00 at this free event.

First up on the course will be a women’s support race compromising of 28 minutes of racing + 1 lap. That will be followed by an emergency services support race which will feature a big presence from the Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA. Their race get under way at 13:35 and feature 35 minutes of racing + 1 lap.

The final support race on the track will be a category 2/3/J2/J3 race with 40 riders from local cycling clubs taking part. That action will get going at 14:15 and see 38 minutes of racing plus one lap before the final dash for the finish line.

From 8pm the final round of the men’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series will take place and at 9:15pm the official podium ceremony will start, crowning the winners in front of a Portsmouth crowd.

Highlights of every round are screened on ITV4 and available on demand via the ITV Player. Also throughout the day there will also be a big screen at the Portsmouth circuit showing highlights of all the previous 9 rounds of racing from all over the country.
