On the 1st October at Southsea Fest, as well as our Strong Island Recordings stage in the little sweat-box that is Festing (upstairs), we’re incredibly proud to present our Strong Island Recordings exhbition launch at Strong Island Clothing Co that will feature photos from across the four years of our labels existence, plus FREE in-store performances where no Southsea Fest wristbands are required for entry.
This will be the first exhibition of ours and will feature photography from Neil Anderson of Wildblanket Zine, Siobhon O’Driscoll of 16 Beasley Street, Paul Gonella (Strong Island Media) and Josh Knill.
Across the day we will have live performances in store that will be somewhat more relaxed than our psychedelic, sweat-pit at The Festing. In store at Strong Island Clothing Co will feature acoustic/stripped back sets from friends and family.
Playing in store will be garage/psych label family, Strange Cages, psych-folk duo Number 9, new local gothic rock outfit Vulcann, bedroom pop artist Danny Wright & His Imaginary Friends and also a very special guest we will be announcing on the day, but trust us, this act, which will be playing at 4pm and hasn’t been announced for Southsea Fest, will pack out the shop so get down for that…
The shop is open as normal throughout the day, so you don’t need to have a Southsea Fest wristband in order to come inside or even listen from outside.
Set times at Strong Island Clothing Co (12 Highland Road, Southsea) are as follows:
18.00 – 18.25 / Strange Cages
17.05 – 17.30 / Number 9
