Play Dead Present… Nothing Is Lost by Midge

Play Dead Gallery and Studio throws wide its doors to welcome the community to an exclusive debut solo collection, titled Nothing Is Lost, by renowned Southsea artist Midge.

I first became aware of Midge’s work back when she took part in our Head Jam event in 2014 when we still running from a small office at the rear of Head Hairdressing on Albert Road. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to get my hands on one of her collaborations with My Dog Sighs which has pride of place in my dining room.

With influences ranging from street art to fine art and illustration, you can expect a stirring, emotive display with themes of love, longing, afterlife and spirituality featuring throughout. Midge has emphasised the collection to reflect pieces that speak to the audience; that draw you into the deeply personal interpretations of the artists self; worked in acrylic spray paint and, more recently, experimentations with coffee. The pieces for this debut collection: Nothing Is Lost, reflect the particular joy experienced by the artist during their creation.

The limited run of opening night goody bags are gaining cult-like status to Play Dead’s growing army of fans; previous contents have included original framed artwork, stickers, badges and even doggy clothing…it’s no wonder the queue is always out the door on opening night as there are only 10 of these exclusive collectables up for grabs! Portsmouth’s Irving Brewery will be providing refreshments by way of seasonal ales, alongside beer and wine. Play Dead welcomes you to join them in celebrating the Opening Night of artist Midge’s exclusive debut exhibition: Nothing Is Lost.

You can find out more about Midge her previous work and future projects over on her website thisismidge.com and over on her social media; Facebook, Twitter @ThisIsMidge and Instagram.

Play Dead has just celebrated it’s first anniversary and owner Samo’s vision for the creative hub refreshingly know no bounds. With host of other great artists already lined up for 2017 it looks like they will continue to be one of the leading galleries in the city.

Let them know that you will be joining them over on their Facebook Event page here. You can stay up to date with all things Play Dead by giving them a like or a follow on Facebook, Twitter @PlayDeadStudio and Instagram.
