Portsmouth City Museum‘s current exhibition by Edward King includes many of his paintings that were created during his time at St James’ Hospital in Portsmouth. As part of this exhibition the museum will be hosting a talk on the 11th of February by Christine Lawrence, formerly a mental health care professional and currently a published author. The talk will discuss mental health care in Portsmouth from 1923 to 1951, during which the painter was a resident.
The talk will be from 12pm to 1:30pm and is free to museum visitors, just turn up on the day. If you haven’t seen the Edward King exhibition yet, be sure to catch it before it ends later this year. You can see our review of the exhibition HERE.
