Tight Modern is the world’s smallest temporary pop-up gallery; an 8ft x 5ft miniature replica of the iconic Tate Modern.
The Tight Modern showcases over 80 artists from across the UK, enabling those on the margins to get their work out there – the 2014/15 Tight Modern tour was seen by over 52,000 people and the 2016/17 tour is expected to reach over 100,000. Following a national call for entries, 84 artworks were selected by a panel of arts industry professionals. Workshops to encourage people to submit to the Tight Modern were held at the Aspex Gallery (Portsmouth), Jubilee Library (Brighton) and Redbridge Library (Ilford).
The Tight Modern will open with a celebration event at the Aspex Gallery in Gunwharf Quays on Saturday 4th March from 1pm– 3pm.

This year the Tight Modern features 30 runners-up in six digital frames alongside 54 original artworks, enabling more under-represented artists to be showcased and rewarded.
