THE HORRORS ARE AMONGST THE NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS TO JOIN WILD BEASTS AT ROCKAWAY BEACH

If you are not aware of Rockaway Beach, it is a small independent music festival that takes place at Butlins in Bognor Regis this coming January. They have just announced that indie rock band, The Horrors will be joining the already stellar line-up.

I first time I had the pleasure of seeing The Horrors play live was at Blissfields 2015 and sadly missed them at last summer’s Victorious Festival. The five-piece from Southend-on-Sea has built a reputation for being one of the best live acts in the UK.

Back in September the band released their fifth studio album V. If I am honest I have yet to give it a proper listen but the album has received 5-star reviews from Guardian, 9/10 from Clash and Line Of Best Fit.

With more live music still to announce, alongside a full film and TV programme, pub quizzes, hidden vinyl treasure hunts, and curated DJ sets, the show is set to kickstart 2018 with a bang for alternative music fans.

With the addition of The Horrors along with Wild Beasts and British Sea Power, this year’s line-up boasts three Mercury Prize nominees. Or four including Peter Hook who as a member of New Order and Joy Division, has also clocked up numerous top-10 albums as an influential part of modern music’s backstory.

Also on the line-up Pulled Apart By HorsesHoneybloodThe OrbAlabama 3Gang of FourShe Drew The Gun, plus Strong Island Recordings’ own Melt Dunes and Drug Store Romeos plus much more including Tim Burgess and Steve Lamacq DJs. You’ll be hard pushed to find anything around this time of the year with such quality.

The weekend aims to position artists alongside its audience with intimate venue spaces, interactive Q&As, on-site competitions, and in-room sessions. Butlins seaside resort also provides you access to a range of seaside activities such bowling lanes, pool tables, arcade games, restaurants, bars and a swimming pool.

Tickets are on sale now as part of accommodation bundles which starting at just £79 pp for three nights room and music, available from bit.ly/RB18discount – with a 10% discount offered using the promo code RB10.
