Undercover Skatepark Project Fundraiser

Undercover Skatepark Project aims to repurpose land underneath the M275’s Rudmore flyover, currently an unused concrete space, into an all weather skate park. The project is gathering momentum and on June 2nd the team behind it will be holding a special fundraiser at Southsea Castle. There will be live music, stalls, activities, raffle and auction all planned for the evening. This is set to be a great party and celebration of exciting things to come!

With the weather being so temperamental and the nearest indoor skatepark being over an hour’s drive away this will be a fantastic opportunity for the city of Portsmouth. While there are a handful of small skateparks around, none of them can be used in wet weather. With skateboarding being announced as an Olympic sport from 2020 this purpose-built facility will be the perfect space for future Olympic hopefuls to train.

On the night there will be music from Sad PalaceColour of the Jungle and DJ Sets from $hit Disco and Special Guests. Local artists My Dog Sighs and Daniel Williams are also lending their support by donating one-off painted skate decks to auction off. This will run alongside a raffle with prizes from many local businesses who support the plans.

Co-founder Jacob Skinner says “This project is of paramount importance for the current and future skateboarders/extreme sports goers of our beloved city. This event is so exciting; It will create more awareness for this important project and the money raised will fund a park for us, by us that will outlive us all.”

Tickets for the event cost a mere £3 and are available from Bored of Southsea, Albert Rd and from our store on Marmion Rd, or online at book.events/usp.
