Things are a little different for this year’s social in regards to fundraising. Previously we have raised money for RNLI Southsea, Portsmouth Autism Support Network, Feel Yourself and Southsea Skatepark and over the years everyone has helped us to donate almost £10,000 to charities.
This time, as we’re aiming to become a social enterprise dedicated in part to providing access the arts to hard to reach people in Portsmouth, we’re focusing on providing arts funding to four Portsmouth youth clubs: Portsea, Paulsgrove, Buckland and Brook Club in Somerstown.
Money raised on the door/tickets, through the raffle and via donations on the night will be split four ways and will be targeted to support access to the arts in these youth groups, be that buying art materials and supplies, organising visits to galleries/exhibitions, artist workshops, etc. The youth clubs and young people will be choosing what works for them.
Through visits this summer it is clear to us that these clubs provide vital support to young people in the city and sadly access to the arts is getting more and more restricted these days via traditional means…so we hope through your generosity we can help support these young people with options to connect with the arts on their terms.
We’ll see you on Thursday at Southsea Castle! Don’t forget, you can purchase tickets in advance via EventBrite, we’re already 50% sold out so get involved. Tickets are available HERE.
